Shop Safe : Telling a fake Louis Vuitton bag from the genuine one
The fashion market is of course big business and the famous brands are prime targets for producers supplying cheap copies - actually, not always so cheap! Not only do you not get the quality you expect, there's little pleasure and zero 'karma' in knowing you have a fake, especially if you were truly duped and paid a fair bit of money for it. Bargains in the real thing can be found from sellers of genuine articles looking to make some money to put towards a new bag or whatever, so not every great deal you see is necessarily a fake. But how do you tell?

This week we're featuring the beautiful Claudia Canova range of clutch bags and handbags from Smith & Canova. Take, for example, their beautifully shaped imitation snakeskin clutch bag. Its body is slightly gathered and is fully lined, with an inside pocket. It is opened and closed by its metal bar and diamante encrusted oval clasp. It even comes with two optional chains, allowing you to have it as a shoulder bag or a wrist bag. All this for under £25.

Or how about this gorgeous patent shoulder handbag in yellow, with a Chanel feel to it, which really does have the designer look but nothing like a designer price tag. Designed by Claudia Canova, we love the heart-shaped quilting of its padded body, and the inside is lined with Claudia Canova's trademark pink suedette. It comes with a chain - that can be worn long on the shoulder or short over the arm - and the silver chain is threaded with patent to match the colour of the bag. It's just wonderful, and if yellow isn't your colour, don't worry - it's also available in white, black, blue, pink and red!

Debenhams Survey Reveals Mums' Fashion Contest at School Gates
Fashion conscious mums in Ireland are turning the school run into a catwalk competition as they vie to outdo each other at the school gates, according to a survey by Debenhams when they asked Irish female customers what they wore on the school run.
Over 60% of women admitted to feeling pressurised to compete in the fashion stakes thanks to ever increasing numbers of "yummy mummies" in the press. 79% said they wouldn't be seen dead in their track suits on the school run; 88% said they would never turn up without make-up on. Some 'glamamums' said that they wore fake tan on the school run, particularly after the mid-term break, to suggest an exotic family break.
Mascara and lip gloss are viewed as the absolute minimum when it comes to facing other mums at 8am. And while competing with glamorous mothers emerged as the number one reason for 'school run chic', impressing attractive single dads or teachers was also cited as a reason to dress up.
